  • Apart from this, there are also 3 faculties i.e. 1 Professor in university and 2 Assoc. Professors of extension education working in the Directorate of Extension Education to support the teaching, research and extension activities of the department.    

STAFF POSITION:  Ministerial staff of 4 in number.

GENESIS : The Post Graduate department of Extension Education was started on the College of Agriculture during the year 1967-68 and the 1st batch of 6 P.G. students passed out in 1968 – 69.

OBJECTIVES:  
  • Human Resource Development in the field of Extension Education.
  • To create trained personnel to work for rural development.
  • Advanced Research in the field of Extension management & rural development.
  • To conduct action research on emerging issues and develop appropriate TOT modules suitable to different agro-ecological situations.
  • Formulation, implementation, monitoring & evaluation of Rural Development Projects.
  • Providing consultancy & advisory services to agencies involved in rural development.
INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITY: The Department has well equipped laboratories with audio-visual aids and I.C.T. tools such as Computers, LCD projectors, Laptops, Interactive board, Video cameras, Digital Cameras, Pen LCD monitors, MPK deflex, Plasma TV, Video player, Colour TV, Internet faciliti, Scanner, Printer etc. Our library has got 367 no. of books and 12 no. of periodicals.

STUDENT INTAKE : At present 10 no. of students are continuing Post Graduation and 1  in Ph. D.course. 

TOTAL NO . OF STUDENTS: Till date 232 no. of P.G. students and 10 no. of Ph. D. students have passed out during 1968-69 to 2010-11.

TRAINING PROGRAMME:
The department had successfully conducted the Soft Skill Workshop for the skill development of agriculture students during October to December, 2013.

INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION:
Dr. B. Parasar, Professor& Head and Dr. B. K. Mohanty, Assoc.Professor had participated in the International Seminar at Manchester, UK during the month of August,2013.

COURSES OFFERED: Our department is offering P.G. courses development perspectives for Extension Education, Development communication & Information management, participating method for Technology Development & Transfer, E-Extension, Gender Sensitization for Development, Human Resource Development, Entrepreneurship Development & Management Extension. In addition to Agril. Economics & Statistics, P.G. courses relevant to Master Research are also offered as minor and supplementary credit courses..

AREA OF RESEARCH: The major areas of students research in P.G and  Ph.D studies covered are  research management, disaster management, dairy and water management, extension management, I.T.K., Transfer Of Technology ,entrepreneurship, credit mobilization, rural youth, mass media, impact study, social change, S.H.G, SWOT analysis, constraint  analysis.

STUDENT PLACEMENT: Students passed out from this department have been well placed with attractive  packages and perks in nationalized banks, national and multinational companies, S.A.U., administrative services (I.P.S., O.A.S.), insurance sector in addition to other posts in state govt. and govt of India services.

ACHIEVEMENT: Our department has started  Educational Technology Cell in 2007-08. The department has conducted a faculty training programme in  “Utilization of Multimedia” during May-June 2007-08. Two training programmes: a short course on “Participatory Action Plan Development” from 24.11.08-3.12.08 and one winter school on “Project Planning Implementation and Evaluation” from  05.01.09-25.01.09 was organized by the department. A National Seminar on “Managing Rural Livelihood in India: Challenges and Opportunities is being organized from 27-28 Nov, 2009 in collaboration with OUAT and Amity.

THRUST AREAS: Advanced courses in extension management, use of I.C.T. in Agriculture Extension, gender perspectives, livelihood management, project preparation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, development support communication and advanced social research tools and techniques are being offered at P.G. and Ph.D level. Action researches are carried out for development of appropriate transfer technology module & transfer technology models for different agro-ecosystem.


Running Research & Projects: 

Presently no project in operation. However, Dr. S. K. Rout, Professor was the Principal investigator of DBT-RBC Project of Govt. of India.
